2020 Continuous Improvement Project
Quantifying Merit Awards

S.M.A.R.T GOALS
Specific - Our Wildcat Battalion Continuous Improvement Project (CIP) for the year of 2020 will be improving our awards incentives. We will be focusing on quantifying our ribbon criteria, and expanding the amount of awards available for cadets to earn.
Measurable - We will measure the amount of ribbons given out by month from the past school year. Using these numbers, our goals for the 2020 school year will be set. The point being to decorate our cadet’s uniforms more. At set dates throughout the year, we will review how many awards have been handed out, and adjust our plan accordingly.
Attainable - These goals will be attainable because we will exhibit strong leadership throughout the entire battalion with no exceptions, and we will set realistic goals. Our cadet leadership will follow strict conduct throughout the year, making sure everyone is doing what they’re supposed to do, and advertising the ribbons to cadets.
Realistic - The battalion will stay realistic by making sure cadets are aware of all award criteria changed.  We will also inform cadets of opportunities to earn awards, and what ribbons are available to them. Dates for upcoming events will be put out early in advance so that cadets can have every chance to attend and earn different ribbons.
Timely - By starting our timeline now we are already ahead. We plan on staying ahead and keeping an eye on how close the JPA inspection is. By the end of the first nine weeks we will have the number of ribbons awarded per month last year, and will have a set percentage we want to increase that.  We will plan spot checks throughout the year to ensure the Battalion is on track for success. By March 2020, we should have a completed CIP for the JPA in April.

2020 Continuous Improvement Project

Quantifying Merit Awards

Cadets, please make yourself aware of this year’s CIP.

Who - The best JROTC program in the district, otherwise known as: The Clarksville High School Wildcat Battalion.
What - Our Battalion CIP: Quantifying Merit Awards. We will be focusing in on ribbons, as that is what will need to be quantified the most. Keep your eyes out for ribbon changes. They are complete, but cadets must review the changes in order to know what they can earn.
When - The 2019-2020 school year, until our formal JROTC Program for Accreditation (JPA) inspection in April.
Where - Clarksville High School
Why - In quantifying our Battalion awards, cadets will have a more clear idea on how they earn them. Ribbons before were vague, rather than based on data or events that the cadets can perform at to earn said ribbon. Our staff reviewed and adjusted these ribbons, and also changed some of the unused SAI Optional ribbons (ribbons we can alter to our program), so now there are new ribbons cadets can earn. Improving the awards program in our Battalion will incentivize the cadets, leading to more motivated and driven performance within the program.
